Help us stop a proposed AI data center just outside Texarkana, Leary and Red Lick

We are citizens of Bowie County who oppose a proposed AI data center in the Texarkana/Leary/Red Lick area. Join us to take action.

The Proposed Project: What We Know

On March 24, 2026, Barkman Creek Land Company, LP, through its general partner Michael Sandefur, sold 600 acres of land just outside Leary and Red Lick to Black Mountain Power LLC. Black Mountain develops and builds large-scale date centers across the state, with sites in San Antonio, Fort Worth and Parker County, Texas.

Little is known about the specifics of the development at this point, as the sale has been shrouded in secrecy and non-disclosure agreements.  The proposed site sits adjacent to two creeks, including Barkman Creek, which flows through a residential neighborhood that is home to several hundred families. There are no known studies or analyses concerning this center’s effects on the groundwater, environment, health, or quality of life impacts for residents in the area.

We are committed to stopping this project and others like it from gaining a foothold in Bowie County.

Skyrocketing Utility Costs
Threats to Health
Economic Development for Whom?

Data centers can use up to 5 million gallons of water per day and have an enormous energy demand. This drives up costs for individual consumers and depletes natural resources. We refuse to foot the bill for subsidizing profits for outside investors.

Constant auditory hums of dangerously high decibel levels, impaired air quality from off-grid generators, and light pollution disrupting circadian rhythms of residents and local wildlife; these are but a few of the long list of health threats a data center would bring to Bowie County residents.

The promise of job creation dries up quickly after the construction phase, with little positive impact for our the local economy. Lots of risks, few rewards.
